Who Pays for What in a Beach Wedding?

Who Pays for What in a Beach Wedding?

Here’s what everyone really wants to know about a beach wedding: Is it an indulgent extravagance or a bargain for the hosts?

Here’s the answer (and it’s exactly the one you don’t want to hear):

It depends.

A beach wedding can cost you three times more than a similar bash in your hometown or it can cut your costs in half. As with any other wedding, it all boils down to cost per head; the difference with a beach wedding is that you’re going to be spending more per guests because you’ll be entertaining them for three days, but you’re likely to have a much smaller head count. Some couples spend the same amount of money they would have at home but find that they’re able to have a much nicer wedding.

If by having a beach wedding, you’re able to slash your guest list from 200 to 50, you’ll probably save assuming you stick to an on-site event at a resort.

But if you end up hosting 200 people, it’s going to cost a lot more.

The beach weddings that tend to cost 20 percent more usually involve bringing in vendors from Los Angeles and flying in flowers and rentals. On average, beach weddings cost about 8 percent less.
